Jacinta Robinson (b.2002) works and lives in Sydney, NSW. She recently graduated from the National Art School Darlinghurst with a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in painting.
Jacinta is interested in the symbolic resonance of the natural world. By delving into the poetics of these symbols Jacinta explores what it is to live in the web of entanglements that is the world.
Working with elements of representation, she aims to conjure symbols that oscillate from clear images to amorphous traces. Her work teases out and inter-weaves a spectrum of complex relationships and emotive states from the devastatingly traumatic to the wholly content.
Plurality and ambiguity are important considerations in Jacinta's conceptual understanding of how painting can function in the contemporary art world.
By creating space in the paintings to hold the viewer Jacinta aims to evoke an immersive portal-like viewing experience and personal connection with the work.
